Free Fallin'
Tom Petty
Full Moon Fever (1989)

I saw an old SNL with Tom doing this song, and I checked it against the
recorded version to make sure it matched up right.

Capo: 1st fret (all chords are in relation to the first fret)

The pattern is E Asus4 E Bsus/addE throughout the whole song (verses and
refrain)

E          022100
Asus4      002200
Bsus/addE  224400

Lyrics:
She's a good girl, loves her mama
loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
loves horses and her boyfriend too

It's a long day livin' in Reseda
there's a free-way runnin' through the yard
and I'm a bad boy, cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart

Chorus:
And I'm free, I'm free fallin'

All the vampires walkin' through the valley
move west down Ventura Boulevard
And all the bad boys are standing in the shadows
All the good girls are home with broken hearts

Repeat Chorus

Do this little thing:

E -4----4-2---0-2-0--

right before the backing vocals go "Free fallin, yeah I'm free fallin" twice
after the chorus right before the next verse.

I wanna glide down over Mulholland
I wanna write her name in the sky
I wanna free fall out into nothin'
Gonna leave this world for awhile

Chorus

Right before they do the chorus a second time, they play the chord forms as
barres:

E5 A5 B5 A5

where:
E5 = 022---
A5 = 577---
B5 = 799---
